1 month

Well the wedding has come and gone and real life has commenced. Granted sometimes I still can't believe this is my life (in a good way). Married life has been everything I expected and more

When we got back from our honeymoon in Seattle I was a full time house wife since David worked and I didn't. Thankfully that has changed, I like taking care of the house and everything but being alone all day was not fun especially considering the time my husband gets home from work (7-8pm). The reason why it changed was my former employer called me back for the rest of the year so I'm employed through December 31st. It's not long but a little is better than none in this economy.

Another good thing is my husband likes my cooking :) I am making spaghetti sauce from scratch for dinner tonight and hopefully will have enough to freeze for later.

Now that I'm working my dinners have become less extravagant and more of put in pot and heat till warm but we have discovered E-meals.com it's a service that for $5/month will send you 5 or 7 day dinner menus with recipes and shopping lists for the meals. We went and got the groceries for our first week today so we'll see how it goes next week. The nice thing is that it doesn't repeat recipes often unless they have become a favorite by the subscribers. Also the budget for each is week is around $40, which is awesome when on a budget. We'll see how we like the meals next week and how easy they are to fix.

Now time to go check on the sauce.

Corn Casserole Recipe

For a friend's housewarming party I made a corn casserole. Everyone liked it so I decided to put the recipe here if anyone else would like it.

Corn Casserole
Serves 6-8

1 Can Whole Kernel corn, drained*
1 Can Cream-Style corn*
1 small can of mexicorn, drained*
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup melted butter
1 8.5oz box of Jiffy Corn muffin mix

Mix all ingredients together and pour into greased casserole dish.
Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour 40 minutes
If desired 10 minutes before its done sprinkle grated cheese over the top and finish cooking.

* If you can't find one type or dislike one type of corn it can be replaced by another can of the other two. As long as three cans of corn is used the type is not important.

Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card

This is something new I am going to try by writing a small review of the books I read as I finish them to help me keep track and remember my thoughts on the book. Hopefully the more I do this the more interesting these will be.

I just finished this weekend Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card. It is a direct sequel of Ender's Game which I read about a year ago and really enjoyed. This book had a good story and kept me in it and enjoyed the entire story. There were no slow points that made me put the book down for a long length of time. The story wasn't very predictable which I liked.

I like these kinds of books because they are a really easy read and I don't have to think and process what the author is trying to tell me just soak up all the details that are provided and fill in the ones that are not and just follow the story as it goes.

It was a good book and hopefully I'll get to read more of both his Ender and Bean series as I can get them from the library.
I had a wonderful weekend with my fiance. We hadn't had a weekend to ourselves in a while so it was nice. I have lots of appointments this week so traveling for those is going to be lots of fun.

The first one is tomorrow for my three month check up after lasik surgery. Its with a different surgeon since the surgeon who did my surgery has moved to a different practice. I am not really looking forward to it but the new doctor will not be doing anything significant besides looking at my eyes so hopefully everything will go ok. This appointment is in Durham so I get to drive home before hand so my mom can go with me.

Still looking for a job today wasn't a good day because I couldn't find any
jobs to apply for. Hopefully I will find something soon not being able to work is driving me stir crazy. I'm not a social person but I liked seeing and communicating with people on a daily basis.

Hopefully this week will go well and by next monday we should have our marriage license :)

Bored at my parents' House

I had my second of three bridal showers on Saturday. It was with my mom's side of the family and her friends from school. It was really nice we got a lot of nice things and it was good to see all the people there. To get some more of the things done for the wedding I decided to stay here for a few days while my fiance went back to where we both live to go back to work.

We have gotten stuff done and I'm basically doing the same thing I would be doing if I was at my place but I had much rather be there than be here. I don't know if part of it is due to not working and not having anything to do during the day so being here is just amplifying my boredom or what but I'll be glad when I go back to my place.

First Post

I decided to start a new blog to write about the next phase of my life: marriage. On September 19, 2009 me and my boyfriend of 4 years will be married.

We are both can't wait for that day to get here and as each day passes they seem to go slower and slower as the day gets closer.

As this point I don't know what the blog will be totally about but hopefully as I continue to write posts a general theme will come about.
